Joelle Hall
President
Joelle Hall is the Alaska AFL-CIO's President, formerly the Political Director, and has been on board since 2006. She is a proud member of UFCW, Local 1496. She has a long resume of political experience from running extensive issue campaigns to heading up the efforts of the AFL-CIO labor program. Joelle served in the U.S. Army and is a graduate of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She lives in Peters Creek with her husband and two children.
Kim Hays
Political Director
Kim Hays joined the Alaska AFL-CIO in April of 2012. Kim is from a union family of Letter Carriers, where the importance of solidarity was instilled in her from a young age. She is proud member of UFCW, Local 1496. Kim is a UAA graduate with a bachelor's degree in liberal studies and a master's degree in public administration. Kim spends her free time with her husband and three children cooking, reading, and playing in the great outdoors.
Alex Pieter Baker
Deputy Political Director
Alex Pieter Baker joined the AFL-CIO in January 2021. Alex was raised in a union household of public educators. He is a proud member of UFCW, Local 1496. Alex holds a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a master's degree from Indiana University. Alex is an ever-optimistic Detroit sports fan, an avid chess player, and spends his free time enjoying the outdoors with his dogs.
Alexander Jorgensen
Communications Director and Office Manager
Alexander Jorgensen officially joined the Alaska AFL-CIO in January 2021. He is a proud member of UFCW, Local 1496. Alex is a proud UAA graduate with a bachelor’s of arts degree in Political Science. At UAA, he served as the USUAA Student Government Speaker and was the 2020 Spring Commencement Speaker. He has previously worked as a legislative intern and as the Save Our State program coordinator.
