Political Education
From protecting the constitutional right to form a union to ensuring everyone can retire with dignity, the labor movement has relied on political action to protect the interests of workers on and off the job. In our movement, involvement in politics is necessary. At every turn, politicians bought by corporate donors attack the interests of workers. Weakening workplace safety rules and stripping workers of their fundamental rights.
As workers, we fight back through collective action and political organizing. We must spend considerable time electing pro-worker candidates up and down the ballot in every corner of Alaska. When we elect pro-worker politicians, we can pass pro-worker policies; it's as simple as that.
