Teamsters Local 959 AT&T Alascom Members Authorise a Strike

140+ Days and No Contract

On July 13th, 2022, the 175 tower climbers, technicians, and other frontline workers who build, maintain, and monitor Alaska's telecommunications infrastructure voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike.

Every time you pick up your phone and dial 911, members of Teamsters Local 959 are working rain or shine to ensure your call goes through. The 175 represented employees at AT&T Alascom have been without a contract for over 140 days, and management continues to bargain in bad faith.

Teamsters Local 959 Secretary-treasurer Gary Dixon had this to say about the negations: "AT&T corporate executives in the lower 48 are treating our communities like a personal piggy bank and exploiting Alaska's working families. In Alaska, AT&T has over $2 billion in federal contracts alone. This company seems dead set on pulling every last penny out of the state, even if it means exploiting its own workers and sticking our communities with outdated, inadequate infrastructure.
